Celebrating 10 years of Brompton Design District
Last night we attended the private view for the 10th anniversary of Brompton Design District, which was the first design district in London.
As event coincided with the annual London Design Festival that celebrates London as the global design capital, prestigious design retailers and global brands worked with cultural institutions to carve out a space in the capital to foster brilliant new design.
Brompton Design District includes leading international brands, independent retailers, local hospitality brands and cultural institutions. It’s illustrious alumni include designers like Arabeschi di Latte, Faye Toogood, and Tom Dixon, and Brompton Design District has since inspired similar design districts to develop across London.
It was great to be part of the celebrations, as we’ve worked with Brompton Design District for over three years. During that time, we’ve designed their yearly exhibition trail for the programme of installations and temporary exhibitions, which are part of the London Design Festival.
We did the graphic design for Brompton Design District’s map and exhibition signage for the 10th anniversary celebrations, too. This district map highlighted all of the events filling up the London Design Festival schedule, and we were responsible for the overall campaign design, printed material, digital communications, and exhibition and wayfinding signage for the event.
As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, Brompton Design District hosted a series of events for London Craft Week, another annual event that celebrates craftsmanship. The programme included workshops, talks, and demonstrations held at The Conran Shop and Skandium. There was even the chance to get the first look at new collections from Squint, Mint and B&B Italia.
Our highlights were seeing different Brompton alumni concoct their versions of the infamous Brompton cocktail, The Conran Shop x It’s Nice That: A Load of Jargon exhibition and the glass demonstrations by Dechem.
