Naturalistic Planting Design book launch at the Garden Museum

Last night we celebrated the launch of our new book design, Naturalistic Planting Design: The Essential Guide by Nigel Dunnett at the Garden Museum. Nigel leads the global conversation on naturalistic planting, reinvigorating public planting and inspiring change.

Our book design for Naturalistic Planting Design focused on the contrasts between the softness of a natural garden and the brutalist architecture of the Barbican, where Nigel designed the Beech Walk and High Gardens, earning himself the Landscape Institute’s Planting Design Award 2018 and a Fellows’ Award 2018 for the most outstanding project. The typeface we selected drew directly from the blunt and bold style of the Barbican, which highlighted the delicate nature of Nigel’s planting design, showing that nature can thrive in any environment. Our design also offered detailed insight into the gardens featured within the book with plentiful case studies and beautifully illustrated plans and diagrams.

There was no better place than The Garden Museum for the book launch and accompanying talks led by Nigel and Sarah Price. The Garden Museum is a historic venue, being the resting place of Britain’s first gardener and plant collector, John Tradescant. The Garden Museum, now hosts exhibitions, a fascinating permanent collection, and a beautiful garden of its own, the Garden Museum tells Britain’s gardening story from the very beginning.
