Bill’s Restaurants —
Designing for a well-loved restaurant chain
Bill’s has over 85 restaurants across the UK, over the last few years Studio Noel have been working closely with them to complete over 250 projects including packaging, campaigns, signage, hoardings, email newsletters, internal communications, website graphics and an app.
We’ve helped them to raise their brands profile when they move into a new neighbourhood, build loyalty with their customer and communicate their values and passion inherit to the brand as they grow.
Here’s a selection of projects we’ve designed for Bill’s.
Delivering an identity for a new takeaway service
We were tasked with creating the identity and packaging for Bill’s new takeaway service.
We created a lockup with the main brand logo to push the service to the forefront. Bold typography and a limited colour palette were used to create an impactful identity.
The design went across items such as their fries bag, burger box, soup container, paper bag, swing tags, menus, e-newsletters and promotional cards.

Building excitement ahead of bold new openings
Bill’s wanted to redesign their hoardings for new restaurant openings to create excitement in the local area.
We designed a series of hoardings that would give potential customers a insight into the Bill’s brand and its heritage as well as a taste of what they offer.
Building brand loyalty through an engaging app
We were asked by Bill's to design the look of their new app which rewarded customers every time they dine.
The design was inspired by Victorian circuses, and bought together playful illustrations, icons and a rich colour palette. To encourage customers to download the new app we designed a range of support material to build awareness of the launch. These included a series of e-newsletters, promotional cards, menu inserts, a homepage animation and website landing page.
Fresh thinking for a spring campaign
Bill’s asked us to come up with a campaign to celebrate the launch of their new Spring menu.
Working closely with the team at Bill’s we designed and art-directed a campaign that bought the key ingredients of the menu to the forefront.
Photographs featuring key ingredients and Spring flowers were combined with playful and elegant typography to create a vibrant campaign that reflected Bill’s passion for great seasonal food.
A fun and engaging promotional campaign for Bonfire Night
Bill’s wanted an exciting way to promote an offer for Bonfire Night in the Metro newspaper. We worked with the team at Bill's and the illustrator Georgina Luck to create a rich and colourful firework themed advert to entice customers into the restaurant.
Commissioning a series of playful colouring sheets for Bill's
We commissioned and art-directed illustrator Lorna Scobie to whip up a series of playful colouring-in sheets to go with their children’s menus. Focussing on Bill’s passion for fresh, seasonal British produce, we designed a classic Bill’s British breakfast, lots of fruit and veg, Bill enjoying a burger, and we even went back to the restaurant’s roots as a Lewes greengrocer. They’ll definitely make a meal at Bill’s a colourful experience!
Enticing customers with a January giveaway
A campaign for Bill’s to entice customers in to the restaurants after the Christmas period. Every day in January, Bill’s gave away treats to their customers via social media and their website.
We developed a campaign look that used woodcut typography in a bold and confident way, reflecting the brand’s contemporary take on vintage style. For the campaign we developed printed and digital material including e-newsletters, website homepage animation and printed collateral.
A flexible design, unifying Bill’s offers and promotions
Bill’s have over 85 restaurants across the UK, each with different requirements for promotions.
We came up with a way to unify their promotions by designing a series of vouchers which were differentiated by their colour and border.
This resulted in it being significantly easier for Bill’s to roll out promotions and adapt quickly to each restaurant’s individual needs.
